Taking advantage of the warm fall weather

Had some great weather this weekend and had the trusty shovel and my brides sporty out and about.

Day Run

Been working on my bride's sporty to get it just the way she talked about, I'm no mechanic and have never made claim to those skills, but I think I knock this one out of the park. She wanted to drop the front end and add to the performance of the bike. I'm happy to say all worked like a charm, and everything fit just as she had envisioned. Including the front brake which I had to fab up. We headed out for a short run of a 150 miles today and she could not be happier! While out and about we saw this GREAT Indian!

One SWEET Indian!

Rough Rider rally next weekend

With the Rough Riders rally coming up next weekend and folks heading in from all over the country, thought I'd take the opportunity to share our favorite camping area in the Las Vegas, NM area. Storrie Lake is a state park but the place is as quiet or as crazy as you want to make it. Covered and primitive camping on the flats near the lake. Here are a few pic's from years past.

Out on the road

Just a short run today to shake out the cob webs and the trials of the week. Oh ya, and a good excuse to drink beer!

Nice short ride...

This is a ride we enjoy for a quick get away. There is a little hole in the wall hotel we usually hide out in. I think it's like $50 per night but it's right next to the beer store and across from some of the best burritos in NM. The town of Vaughn at one time was booming, now however it is nothing more than a gas stop for most folks that don't like to travel the interstate. Anyway it is one way to find your “nowhere”. Heading there this weekend and will post some pics.

Great day ride

With all the fires out in NM we are all pressed to find places to have a ride in the pines that are not burned up and still smoking. This is a great ride and some winding roads thru the pines that will get you at least a little relief from the heat. There is also a great little bar, the Ponderosa, for a quick beer stop.

Great place to take a kid fishing as well.
